Thursday, February 23 - Leaving Miami
Beautiful day! A
little windy, but we won't be in open water so should be fine.
We pulled into the marina next door to get gas. First we saw these three cigarette boats at
the end of the dock, then quite a few more around the marina dock. They were having a poker run. (It's a Thursday. Do these people ever work?)
Ours was the last boat they allowed to gas up, the dock had to be open so boats
could pull in and get their cards.
We saw several boats racing out in the harbor, on their
way to get a card, we guessed. They make
big spray and a lot of noise!
Downtown Miami was beautiful. The architecture was breathtaking.
We also saw some pretty amazing boats.
The Port of Miami was right in the middle of beautiful
buildings. Lots of containers! (Mobile has it beat, though.)
And three cute little red, white, and blue tugs.
Since I was a kid visiting Aunt Frances and Uncle Adger,
I have always wanted to boat on the Intracoastal Waterway around Ft.
Lauderdale. I was not disappointed. It
was spectacular. We docked right in
front of large commercial buildings like we owned the place!
We then took a dinghy ride up two of the canals. Huge houses with huge boats parked in front
of them. Unbelievable. I couldn't stop taking pictures. Feel free to skip some!
Great day on the loop!
