Sunday, February 26 - Shopping Day with Pris and Robert
Soon, friends will stop coming to see us because they
know we will have a list of errands waiting.
After our traditional McDonald's breakfast, we started
with WalMart, hoping to find a microwave/convention oven that will fit our
space. They did not have one, so we
bought groceries and went on. The
closest appliance place was BrandsMart.
I We had never heard of it, but Robert had, so we called to make sure they
carried the dual oven. Contrary to what
the guy said when we called, they did not, so I decided to give up on the
convection and just get a microwave.
Problem solved.
On a side note, we had messaged Jeannie, our Amazon guru,
to ask her about returns. The oven we
had ordered was huge, and very heavy.
She called back today, very excited, to say she had been chatting with
someone at Amazon, and they said they would refund our money and we should
throw way, donate, or keep the oven. Now
she and Luke have a great microwave and convection combo instead of the tiny
microwave we left with the house.
Microwave out of the way, we focused on bicycles,
specifically thrift store and pawn shop bicycles. At our third stop, there was a red Schwinn
and the clerk marked it down from $50.00 to $30.00 as soon as he saw Danny
looking at it. And it has a package
shelf, or whatever you call it, on the back so we can strap beer to it! Those things were over $20.00 at
WalMart. Two things could be better -
the fenders are really rusty, and it is a lady's bike. Robert offered his honest-to-goodness
"man card" for Danny to carry, but I think he will be OK.
We stopped for lunch at a restaurant recommended by some
local people we stopped on the street.
This is the only picture I have for the entire day - Danny's huge
hamburger.
Pris brought some
of her wonderful pimiento cheese, we bought ham and made sandwiches on the boat
for dinner. Nothing but the fanciest for
us!
