Friday, March 17 - St. Patrick's Day
We have a new great-niece! Margaret Ivy Edwards was born at 1:51
a.m. Baby and parents, Mallory and
William, are doing fine. She is gorgeous, of course! Jeannie stopped in Macon
to see her. I am SO jealous.
Today was shopping day for the boat. As we crossed the first street, Danny
realized he left the receipt at the boat.
While he want back, I went in the Catholic Cathedral, the first in this
country. It has much historical
significance and is very pretty.
West Marine was our first stop, of course, to return a
part and pick up radio speakers. While
there, we ran into some people doing the loop, riding their bicycles, and
moored at our marina. I love the boating
world!
On the ride to West Marine, Danny's bike had slipped out
of gear and he had trouble getting it back in.
I had noticed a bike shop on the way, so heading out we stopped to get
it checked. The repair guy said it
needed a free wheel, at least that's what we think he said. He asked us to bring it back in an hour, then
when we told him we had no other transportation, he took it to the back
replaced the part, and charged $30.00.
That's as much as we paid for the bicycle! But we were good to go.
Ace Hardware was next - aluminum bolts and a fire
extinguisher. I really wanted to eat
Mexican for lunch, so we found a neighborhood place that was very good and
reasonably priced. We will go back
there.
Danny got a call
from the insurance company - they accepted the bid from the boat repair
facility. We called the repair facility,
they said to contact them Monday morning for scheduling. So we are in St. Augustine for several
days. We could be in worse places!
We were surrounded by St. Patrick's Day parties on the
docks, a covered dish dinner at the end of our boat, but we weren't
invited. Everybody seemed to have a
great time, and thank goodness they shut down before too late.
