Sunday, March 12 - Kids Arrive!!!
The day is finally here!
Jeannie, Luke, Hudson and Lily arrive today.
Since breakfasts with the family will be limited to
cereal and doughnuts, we decided to search out a real breakfast today. The Blue Hen had good reviews and was just a
mile away, so we headed there. The wait
was 30 minutes, but they gave us cups of coffee to take outside with us while
we waited. It was cute inside, but most
of their decorations were roosters, not hens.
I hope they know that.
This section, Lincolnville neighborhood, has many
connections to the Civic Rights movement, and there are many Freedom Trail
markers. Of all the streets in this
country named after Martin Luther King, St. Augustine's is one of only two that
Dr. King actually walked on. The other
is in Atlanta.
Our ride back to the marina took us right by Flagler
College, the former Hotel Ponce de Leon.
According to it website, the hotel is considered one of the finest
examples of Spanish Renaissance architecture and one of the most exclusive
resorts of its day. It is amazing! The famous 79 Tiffany stained glass windows
in the dining room can't be viewed unless you take the tour. I really think I
need to tour. Here are some pictures we
took.
And I haven't posted any palm tree pictures lately. I loved this one!
This really is such a pretty town, and I love seeing it
from the bike. Note the dates on the
wall plaque.
We rode to the fort, but decided to save our visit for
another day.
Finally they arrived!
In a terrible rainstorm, but they made it safely. I just couldn't get enough hugs.
The weather stayed bad, so we hung out on the boat, at
some popcorn, played Battle (card game), then went to Mellow Mushroom for dinner. It is SO wonderful to have them here with us.
