We weren't sure exactly where our anchorage was in
relation to "downtown" Ft. Lauderdale, so we explored a little after
pulling anchor. I had wanted to get
upriver to see the huge boats with helicopter pads, but the bridge closing kept
us on the Intracoastal Waterway. We still saw plenty of beautiful boats,
though.
The cruise to Pompano Beach was shorter than we
anticipated. We anchored at Sands Harbor
Resort and Marina. It was a small
marina, and the only thing I could see that made it a resort was a swimming
pool! Our boat was probably the smallest
boat there, we were dwarfed by the boats on either side of us. Our bow was in the intracoastal, but the big
boats blocked our view.
We ate a late lunch at the marina Tiki Bar
Then we walked a couple of blocks to get pedicures. The owner was Cuban, the first non-Vietnamese
owner we have come across, and my person
didn't speak any English - at all!
That's all the excitement for today. My phone isn't working, so very few pictures.
