Wednesday, October 11 - We Cross Our Wake!!!!

Wednesday, October 11 - We Cross Our Wake!!!!

As we pulled out from Pickwick Landing Marina, we realized we had not picked up our packages which had been sent there.  With a damaged prop, we decided to go on to Aqua Yacht Harbor then drive back to pick them up. (

An hour later, we crossed our wake, which means we finished the entire Great Loop.  Last year the first part of our journey was on the Tennessee River from Knoxville to Pickwick, and that’s where we actually started the Loop.  So getting back to Pickwick completed the Loop for us, now we will travel the Tennessee River back to Knoxville.  Notice the clothes and blankets - it was COLD!

Danny had called Aqua Yacht Harbor in Pickwick TN / Iuka, MS (different sides of the bridge) to schedule repair of the propellers.  So we cruised to the marina slowly and pulled into the repair area.  I disembarked rather than crawling over the bow, and Danny drove the boat into the sling for the lift.  Danny and Tony inspected the props and decided that yes, we did need to have them repaired.

While we waited for the boat to be put back in the water, we went to the office and waited with Brittany, the office manager and our new friend.  She offered us one of the marina trucks to go get lunch, and we gladly took it.  She recommended a BBQ place just across the bridge, Rib Cage, and it was wonderful!  Terrific ribs and pulled pork.

Back at the boatyard, they put the boat back in the water and used the work boat to push it over to the dock.

We needed to go back to Pickwick Landing to pick up the packages we had sent there, and Tony offered one of their trucks again.  This is a picture of the last package Jeannie will have to send to us, this Loop, at least.  She has been so wonderful about keeping up with our bills and picking up and mailing our mess.

The park headquarters had a display of owls and hawks, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

Back at the marina, the evening light and clouds were spectacular!
