Monday, October 2 - Last Day on the
Mississippi
We left Diversion
Channel about 8:30 for our last travel day on the Mississippi. Tasteful
Traveler pulled out ahead of us, but they cruise at a lightly slower speed, so
we caught up and were able to take a picture of their boat for them.
This rock formation
on the shore caught my eye. Guess I’m a sucker for rocks, too. Or
maybe they remind me of the lakes back home.
And then there were
these little rock islands. I’m sure they had some Corps of Engineers
purpose, but it wasn’t apparent to us.
Mid-morning we
passed a forest fire. We smelled the smoke and saw the ash on our boat
for miles.
This bridge across
the Mississippi had the prettiest lines. Wish I had the photography
skills to do it justice.
Anchorage for the
night was at Boston Bar, which was a small area behind a weir dam. (The
third anchorage recommended by Fern.) We shared it with Chrysalis and
Tasteful Traveler. We all got out the dinghies and went exploring. Danny
sunk way into the mud getting out of the dinghy. The whole beach was soft
and felt squishy, even the cracked mud.
Joe and Pam on
Tasteful Traveler had a drone and took our pictures. They also took a
video of us coming back to the boat with the Asian carp flying all around
us. My pictures only showed a splash.
