Monday, September 25 - Alton Again
We decided to
stay in Alton for a few days. It is just too hot to cruise. I can’t
believe I’m saying that, but it’s true. (92 degrees at 6:00 pm
yesterday.) There are very few marinas on the Mississippi, which means we will
need to anchor out many nights.. In order to run the AC, we have to run
the generator, and running the generator increases the risk of high carbon
monoxide levels. We spent one night on deck because the alarm went off,
not anxious to do that again.. So we will stay here and enjoy the pool
and the company of fellow Loopers.
Danny wanted to
soak in the hot tub - as if it weren’t hot enough already. When we got to
the pool, each of the two hot tubs had a very large gentleman in it. A
quick dip and we went back to the boat.
Alton Marina had
flowers everywhere. We found out at the end of our stay that it is a
municipal marina. It is managed and maintained very well and everyone is
very friendly and helpful.
Deb and Gil on
Chrysalis pulled in today after a couple of extra days at Grafton. It was
good to have them catch up.
