Wednesday, July 26 - Another Rain Day

Wednesday, July 26 - Another Rain Day

The weather forecast this morning called for dreary skies and chances of high wind, so we stayed in Byng another day.  We moved to the marina so we would have electricity.  Our only activity was doing the laundry.  Machines here were MUCH cheaper than thee ones in Orillia.

No pictures.  I’m slipping.

Tuesday, July 25 - Byng Inlet

Tuesday, July 25 - Byng Inlet

Deb and Gil had made reservations in Byng Inlet, so we headed that way.  Beautiful scenery, interesting houses, narrow passages, and lots of rocks just under the water.  The satellite photo gives you a good idea just how many rocks there were.

We decided to anchor out rather than go to the marina.  We got settled, then took a dinghy ride.  Deb called and their marina had a courtesy car, so we joined them for a trip to the store, very small store, and a little exploring.
This is the most white “stuff” I have ever seen in one yard!

The dinghy ride back offered more photo ops.

And of course, more sunset pictures.

Monday, July 24 - Rain Day

Monday, July 24 - Rain Day

The weather was not promising, so we stayed at Killbear Marina another day.

Yes, those are jackets we are all wearing on our way to lunch at the marina restaurant.  And they are zipped up!

Lazy day - movies, reading, trying to stay warm.  This picture shows the only sun we saw all day.

The sunsets here are long and beautiful.

Sunday, July 23 - Close to Parry Sound

Sunday, July 23 - Close to Parry Sound

Scenes from the morning’s cruise.  Some of the twists and turns were very tight.  Gil did a great job leading the way.

We were close to Parry Sound, but decided to stay at Killbear Marina rather than go further in.  As we approached the marina, the rope attaching Chrysalis’ dinghy got caught in the motor.  And Deb’s hand got caught in the rope.  They limped into the marina to assess the damage while Deb iced her hand.Gil tried to get into the cold, cold water to cut the rope, but made it only to his waist.  Alex made it all the way in, but cut his thumb trying to free the rope. It was time to call in a professional diver.

This boat was next to ours at the gas dock.  The ladies grabbed our ropes and introduced us to their dog and cat.

There were lots of cars in the parking lot.  When I asked where all those people were, our new friends told us they belong to people who have cottages on islands.  Since it was the week-end, there were more cars than boats.

Some pictures of the marina.
