Monday, April 10 - The Georgia Coast
Town was close by,
the marina offered a discount at Maggie Mae's restaurant, we had bikes, and we
hadn't eaten breakfast out in many days. SO, we headed out. It was
a cute local restaurant, decorated with all kinds of peace signs. (Danny
tried to convince me they were "woman" signs.). This was hanging on
their wall, but they didn't serve Brunswick Stew, at least not for breakfast.
Today's route took
us through and between the barrier islands. St. Simon's was first, but
again, we were too far away from the island itself to see much of it.
Cruising through the marshes made up for it. Danny and I tried to
remember Sidney's Lanier's poem about the marshes of Glynn, ended up Googling
it, and still not remembering ever hearing it. I didn't get the poetry
gene, I guess.
The only event of
the day was a flock of gulls following the boat. I guess they thought we
were shrimping. Other than that, just gorgeous marshes.
"Moon over the
Marsh" is the title of this shot.
