Thursday, June 8 - On to New York City

Thursday, June 8 - On to New York City

This was day three of the passage from Cape May to New York.  It took us an hour to get from Brick to Manasquan Inlet. The first section was the Metedconk River.

The Pleasant Canal connects to the  Manasquan River.  It is narrow and quite swift.  You can see how rough the current was.
Almost every house along the canal had an inground swimming pool.

The Manasquan River was challenging.  Narrow bridges and lots of fisherman right in the channel.

Out Manasquan Inlet and we are on the ocean again.

Two and one half hours later, we could see the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in the distance.  The weather had been great, staying an extra day in Brick was a good move.

This was the first of many Staten Island Ferries we saw.  They run non-stop.  And here is where they dock on the East River.
The Manhattan skyline is magnificent, and we took lots of pictures to show it.

We wanted to anchor for the night behind the Statue of Liberty.  We knew other Looper boats had anchored there, and thought it would be a great experience.  It was still early after we checked it out so we cruised up the East River to take in the sights.  Here are just some of the pictures I took.

Then back to our incredible anchorage.

We had some waves, but the view and experience were well worth it.  Here are some night views.
