Wednesday, September 13 - Joliet Day 3
Danny is loving the
free dock with power, so we decided to stay in Joliet another day. Most
of the other Loopers stayed, too.
The folks on Skinny
Dipper had recommended that we eat at Blue Taco and it’s only open for lunch.
Today seemed like the perfect day. Deb and Gil, Carolyn and Craig, and
the two of us headed for downtown. The food was good, and I had been
craving Mexican, but Che Guevara in Knoxville wins hands down.
As we left the
restaurant, we passed a car show being set up. The Corvette pictures are
for our friend, Dave Bolus.
The car show was part of Race Week In Joliet, which includes a big event downtown on Wednesday night of the week. There was a stage set up for music and lots of people setting up booths and displays. We were excited to find a couple of folks setting up their BBQ booths, but neither one had anything ready to sell yet.
Biking back to the
boat, we had to wait for the draw bridge to open and close. It was impressive
seeing all that concrete rising above our heads.
There was quite a
crowd at Docktails. Some newbies, a couple from France, several couples
that were new to us. The circle kept expanding.. Boat count for the
night was 11, there had been 13 last night. Free walls with power are
very popular!
The Race Week event
ended with fireworks. I was too late with my camera for the colorful
ones.
