Saturday, September 9 - Michigan City, IN
We never left the
marina property, so these pictures leaving the marina are the only ones I have
to post from South Haven.
More dunes. Lake
Michigan is certainly pretty, but the scenery never changes. All we have
to look at when we are cruising is water, lots of water, and the distant
shore. There is an ongoing discussion with Loopers about the benefits of
a “go-fast” boat. In my opinion, Lake Michigan would be a strong argument
for that type of boat.
Our slip was on the
dock closest to the dunes. We enjoyed watching people walking along, and
sliding down them.
We were on the party dock! Tables and chairs and even tents were set up all along the way. You had to walk right through the parties to get to shore. Deb said Labor Day was even crazier. I didn’t get a good picture, this was what remained after cleanup.
A friendly boater
stopped by to chat, and told us a very large boat was being towed in for repair
and would pass the marina soon. It turned out to be a 60-foot, $2,000,000
SeaRay. There were several versions of the accident story, but the damage
was extensive. They had to lift it with airbags and use a crane. Someone
said it weighed 3,000 tons with all the water and sand inside it. It was
very sad to watch.
We couldn’t pick up the UGA football, so we listened to it on the radio while Danny grilled tuna and cabbage. We ended up so involved with the game that we never ate. Leftovers tomorrow night!
Yes, the Bulldogs
won!
