Wednesday, August 2 - Gore Bay
We woke to gray
skies, but at least no rain.
Gil and Deb took
their dinghy to shore to get our ropes from the “Med Moor”, then we untwisted
the two anchor ropes and headed back into the North Channel.
Directly ahead of
us as we left our anchorage was another highly recommended anchorage in the
Benjamins. This one had even more boats, a jet ski, and a rock island to
climb, complete with a Canadian flag.
Up to this point,
we had been on the northern shore of the North Channel, Today we headed
south across the open water to the southern shore where there is a little more
civilization, meaning internet for Alex and battery recharging for us.
Gore Bay Marina,
the only marina, is also home to Canadian Yacht Charter, so there was a little
more activity and even a little town! The docks were very nice and
spacious, but we were so far from the office we used our bikes to get there.
We tried out the
local restaurant for lunch, then walked around the waterfront. One
building housed artist studios and a shipping museum. The other building
was a local brewery. More about that later.
