Monday, August 7 - Meldrum Bay
Incredible clouds
as we headed back out to the North Channel and cruised toward Meldrum Bay.
We had seen solid
trees for so long, this patch of grass really stood out. And we saw a
house! It’s been a long time.
“Meldrum Bay Marina
Center” is grandiose for this place. It did have a lounge (without a TV),
a laundry, and showers, but no gas, no pump-out, no store, and not many
boats.
Deb, Gil, and I
walked to “town.” Town consisted of an inn and restaurant, a general
store with very little inventory, and a hot dog stand in the yard next to the
store. The views were lovely, and thank goodness we didn’t need to buy
anything.
A fellow Looper,
Sue, had met us as we came in to help with the ropes, and another Looper, Elle,
came over to say hello when they docked. The name of their boat is “Gypsy
Spirit.” I love that name!
We ate dinner at
the inn. The food was wonderful, but pricey, so each couple split an
entree.
