Thursday, July 27 - The Bustards
Chrysalis had
generator problems, so they stayed at Wright’s Marina checking on a part while
we headed out for our day in The Bustards. (The correct name is Bustard
Islands, but everybody refers to it as “The Bustards.”). Several people had
told us how pretty it was, and somebody told Danny the water was warm enough
for swimming AND the fishing was good, so we were anxious to spend some time
there.
We left Bying Inlet
and followed a rock path to the island.
Not long after we
anchored in our beautiful cove, ten kayaks came paddling by headed out into the
bay. So our cove was not truly a cove. We also saw some kids
playing on rocks. There had to be some civilization close by.
After lunch, we
went exploring. The only human signs we saw were a shack close to our
anchorage, a lone fisherman on the bank, and a teepee frame. It was
indeed beautiful!
Views from our
boat.
The person who told
Danny the water would be warm enough for swimming lied! He tried,
but just couldn't make it in. And he didn't get a single bite when he
fished. At least the the scenery was as good as promised.
The sunset was spectacular!!! Probably the prettiest I have ever seen. See if you agree.
