Wednesday, March 8 - On to Daytona Beach

Wednesday, March 8 - On to Daytona Beach

What did we ever do without bikes?  We headed to main street Titusville for breakfast with the locals at a family restaurant.  On the way back, we passed Space View Park and the 1891 Pritchard House.

This part of the route is very scenic, it even had the perfect deserted island.

We had been cruising in very wide rivers and bays, now this is our heading.  A little tight, with fishermen and women on both sides, and a kayak outfitter.

Just loved the name of this place - Mosquito Lagoon.

We started to notice abandoned boats on several islands, most of them tilted.  It took us to about number 3 to figure out that this was damage from the hurricane.  Also lots of dock damage,

I love the old Florida look to some of these houses.  We saw only mansions and estates for so long.

We got these shots at New Smyrna Beach.  They were having so much fun!

Halifax Harbor, our Daytona Beach marina.

It's so large and spread out, they send someone on bicycle to your slip with the paperwork.  Bill was our guy, and he gave us some good local information.

Daytona Bike Week starts Friday, so we were excited about sing some of the early festivities.  Again, thanks to our bikes, we headed across the bridge the lower one, and over to Main Street where a lot of the action takes place.  Here are some pictures, remember this is two days before Bike Week starts.

And this is my favorite picture.  I wanted to wear a sign saying, "I have a real bike, too!"

A cloudy evening, but just a little rain.

One more little thing - we were watching TV when it went blank, no electricity.  Danny went to check the connection at the dock electric box, I happened to look toward the back of the boat and saw smoke, then almost immediately flames, just little ones.  I didn't scream at Danny, but I did yell very loudly.  He got the fire extinguisher and put out the flames, no damage except smoke around our power cable.  Evidently the rain got into the connection and caused the trouble.  A guy we talked to about a new cord said to wrap the connection in Saran Wrap when it's raining.  High tech solution.  Now we have to buy a new power cable.
